Steps to service with Spearhead

1. Apply for Spearhead 2009 (June 3, 2009 - July 31, 2009) by clicking on “Apply” and submitting your paper work.
2. Submit the additional forms to complete your application.
3. Save your money—or raise support—to pay your expenses and airfare. If you wish to raise support, LAM/Spearhead staff will coach you. The costs for the program are outlined here.
4. Fly to Mexico City on June 3, be met at the airport, and taken to a conference center where you will receive several days of Orientation. Then you’ll be introduced to the Mexican family you will live with, and assisted in learning your way around the giant, sprawling city. You will have a fellow Spearhead participant as a roommate.
5. You’ll be tested to determine your ability level in Spanish, and then Mexican teachers will help you build on whatever language you already have: you need to have as much language skill as possible to truly communicate the love of Christ!
6. You’ll be placed in a ministry that fits your areas of interest and training. Possibilities include helping Mexican Christians in: clinics, small businesses, social agencies, camps, and church programs such as youth groups, Bible studies, Vacation Bible School, tutoring and door to door evangelism.
7. Every week you’ll meet with your Spearhead Team leader and fellow Spearhead participants for prayer, mentoring and debriefing. Your Team Leader and the Director of Spearhead Mexico will check on you often and respond quickly to any call for advice or assistance.
